ASK THE VIEJO DINOSAUR : WHATEVER HAPPENED TO?????? VD has been around longer and knows more people than anyone else I know. He’s lived everywhere and is as well connected to more wise guys and cocktail waitresses and money movers than anyone else that I know. Anyone can jump in and illucidate us as to the whereabouts of anybody in question. I will start out with a double inquiry and see what my old friend VD has to say.
Whatever happened to the biggest NBA total mover of all time Mr. Chuck Schaup ( aka the Boxer) and whatever happened to his biggest mover/runner Jimmy McHugh ( who used to play poker and work out of the Mirage when it opened)?

Chuck moved to Thailand around 15 years ago and sadly has passed away…Jimmy also moved here about the same time…saw him a few times but have lost contact….

When I lived in Vegas I was on the same softball team with Chuck which included Kenny White and his father Pete…that team was sponsored by the Rose Bowl Sportsbook which was right next to Gary Austin’s joint….

Always concerned with China…they like to flex their muscles over here in the far east…with countries like the Soviet Union, Korea, and Japan having some military strength things can happen quickly over here…

Did you know the Swampers? Doc Goggles and his nephew Buckets (always used a xx60 in his accounts.) Other Cajuns : Shep from the Mirage and RL (Rainbow) who clerked everywhere from Mickey Wheels in Miami/DR to many stores in San Jose. Used to see him at the DelRey quite alot. Just wondering about all of them - All were very colorful characters!

Knew them all very well….those Cajun guys were quite the characters…especially Shep and Rainbow…Shep passed away too early…I helped Mickey Wheels train his clerks when he opened a shop in the Dominican…the Swamper and Frankie M. We’re very good friends of mine…Frankie aka Willie Nelson got me my start in the business….

Judge Wapner is alive and well in Costa Rica and doing great….Skip and Terry had one of the best shops in Costa Rica…Terry has passed and I lost track of one of the best numbers guy in Skip….Dewey Tomko and his sons are in Florida…I got word that Carmelo has passed away….lost track of my friend Oklahoma Richie….

Black Cat still hanging in there….I went to grammar school and high school with Carmelo’s brother Anthony….but didn’t know until I met Carmelo in Sacco’s office in 1987…small world
